How does it shave ? Is the razor improved by stropping or is it made less keen following stropping ? I've heard my razor on the strop ..... when I paid attention .... and all was well. A 7/8 FH in particular would be a razor that you might hear more than a smaller or heavier grind.

It is pretty comfortable, slides off my sideburns and cheeks like nothing grows there at all, the only problem area is the chin, but I consider it as my technique being not good enough.

Stropping does seem to improve it, however I am still not completely sure if canvas really do have any effect. I'll try not to use them for few times in a row to see if they really affect final results.

    Thanks!

As long as it is shaving well and the stropping isn't having a negative effect than I would think you're alright. IME the linen, fabric, felt or whatever does improve my edges when used before the leather. BTW, I think we all have a harder time with the chin than with the rest so don't feel like The Lone Ranger.

I got a suggestion..I used to hear the same noise... I think you might be lifting the spine JUST A TAD. That caused this sound for me... Rather than using no pressure (which can make the spine float up a little) try using the tiniest amount of pressure you can, ON THE SPINE... That might be your remedy

Thanks! I'll watch out for that.
