Thanks for clarifying. Did anybody ever find out if it was the clay or the graphite? I usually think of graphite as a dry lubricant, so I wouldn't expect it to have much grit to it...but not much grit is needed either.
Thanks again,

I would be inclined to say its the graphite Jim as I have seen people say they have used locksmith graphite to replace rubbing the pencil on paper and then onto the strop and had similar results

Although graphite is used as a lubricant it is still abrasive, like water is the universal lubricant as well as the universal solvent.

Well,
Here's a general update. I have a microscope coming in off of Amazon...hopefully to arrive by the end of the week, a couple e-bay goodies I picked up this weekend, and my Genco finally fell. I got a total of 21 good, comfortable shaves with it, but then it started to pull, and my stropping series wasn't able to bring it back to a good comfort level. I could certainly have shaved longer, and a guy with a less sensitive neck would probably think it was fine, but this was my barometer. 21 shaves on stropping alone...and my first 21 at that. I've touched up the Genco on my Swaty, but think I'll wait to strop it until I get a good look at it under the scope. I'd really like to see what my strops are doing for my blades. In the mean time I'll keep shaving with my Leader and keep a running tally on the post-it note wrapped around its box.
After I get my scope, I'm going to give the graphite a shot too so I can compare sight and feel from the different strops.
Thank you lost re-bate check for financing this venture!
And thanks to you guys for your input and ideas.
