Thanked: 993I'm just going to throw this out there:
There are a number of people on this site, myself included, who have made or are making their own strops for quite a low price. Often, they are procuring the leather from a true leather shop, and using equipment from a hardware store to help keep their costs in line.
If you're not the DIY type and are looking for a proper strop you'll find that the prices are quite varied, but are generally between $50 and $90. There are some sites that have lower prices and great materials (such as whippeddog.com, Ruprazor), and you may be able to find an Illinois strop for $40 if you look hard.
What I'm saying is that if you're going retail, you'll get what you pay for. I have no experience with Selective Strops, but at $13.50 I'm a little skeptical about its quality.....based solely on the price.
FWIW, I'd scroll on over to a couple reputable shaving sites such as SRD, ClassicShaving, ShavingShop, VintageBlades, RupRazor, etc. to see what they offer in terms of leather and material.
Just my two cents,

If you bought one, It's yours. I can recommend laying it flat and going at it with a vibrating sander until all the faux grain is gone. Slather it with leather conditioner (many times) Then it will work OK. Throw the fabric away! By the way, the Jemico Prima Rindleder is darn good for the money, IMHO
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 275FWIW --
"Selective" is on the "Brands of Razors to Avoid" list.
The strops are probably the same quality as the razors.
"StarShaving", whippeddog.com, and RupRazor all have reasonably good, reasonably-priced strops (based on what I've read here, and on the whippeddog strop I own).
