Nothing touches my linen strops but a straight razor and an earth magnet when the linen darkens enough.

I would not put it on my daily user strop, but if you have some junker linen strops, and want to experiment, I would say go for it. Here is a picture of two linen strops with cbn in on them. I have not used them in years, but pulled them out and tried them before responding to this thread. They both improved a norton 8k edge and resulted in smooth shaves. One strop is the plain powder on linen, the other is a beeswax and cbn mixture. The plain powder on linen one produces a slightly better shave.
A few years ago I was on an abrasive kick, wood ash, rotten stone, chrome oxide, iron oxide, cerrium oxide, news print. Experimenting is a lot of fun.
Now days I pretty much go to my naniwa 12 and a little .5 diamond on hard felt, or a few swipes on my Nakayam kiita hone.
My daily use strops have no paste on them.

Spray came yesterday & got around to playing w/ it today--cleaned up a piece of balsa & sprayed it on, then got impatient & sprayed it on my Jnat & worked on a razor that needed a touchup. Hair popping was impressive, but not "silent"--figured the razor needed more, but just for fun, stropped (leather only) & (dry) test shaved a tiny patch of sideburn (maybe 1 square cm total). Only light pulling. Then felt it--BBS from WTG & no prep!!!!!! Very interested in tomorrow's test shave...

Now for an update: this stuff (so far all I've used is balsa, but felt will be forthcoming) bumps up the closeness of the shave about 1 notch above the last thing the razor was finished on prior, but really bumps up the effortlessness of the shave. By far this is most noticeable going XTG/ATG. Long strokes WTG are possible however w/ this stuff (normally I'd never get away w/ that w/o a pulling sensation). My preliminary verdict is this stuff could be unbelievable after something like 0.25 compounds, but it's still pretty amazing off of a Jnat.

Thanked: 267Why not try it on your JNat!......blasphemy I know! Just spray it on a cleaned stone when done honing on your JNat and take about 15 for 20 light strokes then look at the bevel.....it will show a diamond white reflection. Shave with it and critique that. Some say that the reflections has nothing to do with a shave but I have noticed that it is referred to by most of the Japanese masters when critiquing a stone.

I've done it & found fresh off the hone, it's nice. I'm still just a little paranoid about using the bottle up too quick is all!
