I was going to say that I thought some study had been done on this. But that's already pointed out.

For my part, I would say that it can't hurt. It does dry the edge, though I would still strop before use the next time (so you aren't saving time the next morning or whatever).

I live in a humid climate (Florida). It's very easy for rust and corrosion to get a toe hold on razors, Knives and tools in general down here. I always strop after a shave and and give a quick wipe with a little bit of mineral oil. I don't know if it's good or bad for my razors edges. I feel I get the about the same number of shaves out of each razor than when I just stropped before each shave. I just feel that the friction from the extra stropping helps the the edge stay dry. IMO

The mineral oil will definitely protect the exposed surfaces from corrosion.

Yes and as the guilty party who performed that experiment its true that as far as sharpness goes it makes no difference whether you strop before or after or both.

I'm still waiting for someone to redo the experiment for confirmation purposes. Any takers? X?

I've used both systems (strop before and strop before+after) with no noticeable differences in sharpness. That's why I've eliminated the aftershave stropping from my routine.

I like to strop after the shave as well for the sole purpose of making sure the edge of the blade is dry. I do about 30 to 40 linen/leather before the shave and 10 to 15 linen/leather after.
