Only use the crox when the razor begins to start feeling like it's trying to grab at the hairs slightly, but still cutting. Do 5-10 laps, then 20-30 linen, 50-60 on leather, that's it and you're all set. You may have to do it more often at first b/c of learning, but after about 15 good shaves you should have enough time in to not need the crox as often. Maybe once every 3 or 4 weeks if you are shaving daily or every other day.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

    Default My First Strop!:)

Everyone has different opinions on crox. Some use it every day, some once a week, some once a month and some only when the edge begins to degrade.

Really I don't see anything wrong with any of these as long as it works for you.

Here is a very good study and experiment by Gssixgun about pasted strops and weather or not they are needed daily. On a totally different note if you shave right out of the shower as I do please make sure you have a towel or something around your waste when you strop. I learned this the hard way last night.
