I'll trade ya for a strop.

I imagine it will work just fine using the top side (with the printing). Hard to tell texture from pics, but I think pretty much any smooth-ish surface should work fine. People have stropped on jeans, newspaper, palms of hands, seat belts... I'm pretty sure technique trumps material in the world of stropping. So even if it isn't real leather, as long as you use it correctly, I'm sure it will work.

So I'd say go for it.

I'd do trades lol. And the printed side is pretty smooth and I found out that is full grain leather.
