Thanked: 284Nichiri Pelican Shell
Gents-
I just got this (what was advertised as NOS) strop and overall very satisfied. The feel of the shell feels great, with no signs of nicks or use otherwise. There are what looks to be maybe water stains? The cotton? side is clean on one side and fairly dirty on the side against the leather.
Opinions on cleaning her up? Woolite for the cotton maybe? Just use the leather side without doing anything?
The brass needs a good polish too.
I love living in the past...

From the looks of that I would just do a damp rag wipe , let it dry and start palm rubbing it.
It looks to be in great shape so I would just clean it off to remove any foreign matter. It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!

You have a very nice stable. I have been intrigued by some what appear to be in good shape vintage strops...my first strop ever was a vintage found in a antique store...I PIF'd it when I bought my first Tony Miller 7 plus years ago...wish I still had it in a way. I recently purchased a Kanayama #3 and am very pleased with it. Was told by a guy I respect that he had wasted quite a bit of coin buying vintage strops when in fact he could have bought another QUALITY one such as the Kanayama or a Neil Miller. I would enjoy a Neil Miller myself...I need to contact him.....see if he remembers that old relic straight I sold him years ago with the pressed horn scales!
