    Default pasted strop setup

The honeymoon is over - its time to get my dens strop action in order and throw out all my odds and ends.

So the question I have is, you think I should just the SRD modular strop? Or should I replace most of the components I have for my three hanging strops?

I say just the SRD modular, but that's because I just got mine and love it!

Yeah I have wanted one for forever lol. That it's so versatile doesn't hurt .

Best thing about it is you can sit down and use it .

I don't have an SRD modular..I do have a 4 sided pasted paddle by Tony Miller. I have owned it for going on 5 years... It is handy but the majority of my stropping gets done on my original 3" TM Latigo and now also my much beloved newly acquired Kanayama #3. It is a must have in my book. What do you currently use?

Well I have to send a very high recommend for the SRD modular , I've had one for a few months now, I travel quite a bit so it's been a great traveler, so earcutter you can't go wrong with it so many replacement pads to use ,, I wish they had more options on leather though , I like my English bridle but they didn't offer it only Latino, the felt pads are really nice mediums for CRoX or sprays,, now on the other hand when I get my Kanayama I'm sure it's going to be used a lot! But the modular will always be in my travel bag. Tc. Good luck

I have 3 strops. A 2" horse leather, a 3" Roo, and a strop that's all fabric. Plus all kinds of balsa paddles that I made.

My intention is to do away with all the balsa cluttering my drawers (my den is small). Moreover, because it's taken a bit of trial and error to discover what I like, I have pastes on the fronts and backs on most of my strops. It's driving me nuts and I want to clean up.

I have discovered that all I want is the 1 micron diamond, .25 micron diamond and the CrOx.

I was thinking of getting the SRD felt to replace all my fabric and then add another strip of leather as well. Going that way would be cheaper than the modular strop. But the notion of cleaning up and just using the modular and one hanging strop is appealing as well lol.

I am all over the place on this one. I have no idea why either lol. . Maybe I should just buy the parts and call it good. Either way, I am out of CrOx, so I'll have to get at it soonish - me loves the CrOx .

I could have sworn they did at one time. Then as I watched Lynn review it, I noted him mention other leathers so I don't think I am off. Perhaps they have done away with them or are just out of stock. Not sure, but if that's what you want you should put a bug in the stores ear lol. You never know .

Until you see the modular paddle up close and personal you can't really appreciate it. Photos just don't convey what a useful design it is. I had the old HandAmerican flatbed magnetic deal that was the precursor of the modular paddle. Lynn's design improved the ergonomics far enough that I gave the HA to a friend and sprung for the modular. Really a great tool IME.

Ok - so I priced it out. Were I to get replacement parts for my strops, .25 diamond spray, and CrOx it would be $89.

If I get the modular with and extra bit of felt, the .25 micron and the Crox, it would be $133.

So a difference of $44 bucks...

That's not a ton of cash! I am on the fence. The modular is awesome in that it can easily be taken to wherever I want to go as tcrideshd and others mentioned. But it will still leave me with stuff on the wall, and stuff in the drawer. The replacement parts leaves me with just stuff on the wall.

    ARG!! .

I guess I'll sleep on it - of course adding anything else to the order may be a factor too .
