Beautiful strop. Congratulations. I know I've seen the answer to this before, but can't remember where - what's the proper way to hold the end of the strop when stropping, when there is no handle or ring at the end? Just curious. Maybe someday, when I can afford it, I will get one.

Good luck with your so-very-nice strop.

You have a first rate strop. Take your time and slow down. Speed will come with time and comfort will accompany the practice. Take care of that Kanayama and it will provide you with a lifetime of stropping pleasure.

Thanks, I do strop at speed.
Thinking about it , ill do some linen then suede before the leather so I should be ready for it.
I haven't nicked a strop for about 6 months, when I received my 8/8th's with a Spanish point blade and went full speed on the strop. Woops , I butchered it

Recently I acquired a new Tony Miller strop. The leather is flawless. Can anyone compare the Kanayama to a Tony Miller? I know the leather is different but I'm wondering more about how they compare from a performance standpoint and quality of product.

Not even any comparison in the leather components, and I've got strops from both makers. Nothing beats the Cordovan on my strops from Neil Miller and Kanayama. Further, components are available from both these makers, but I was never able to source another leather component from Tony Miller, although he does build a beautiful strop..So, if you need service down the road, this is a consideration.

    Just my experience ..
