Thanked: 0Travel Strop-Any Recommendations?
Hello,
I'm looking for a good 3" or wider travel strop.
Any recommendations?
Preferably a "Paddle-Style" strop.
I prefer a 3" or wider strop so I don't have to perform the "X" stropping pattern.
Thanks,

Well, you know no matter the width of the strop you should do the X motion. Most paddles are narrow I don't think I've ever seen a wide one. They do have bench strops that are wider but of course they are larger in mass than a travel paddle.

+1 for the x stroke I still use it on my 3" big daddy hanging strop, you could fairly easily make a cheap paddle strop for traveling.
I also have some 30 x 3" Roo leather strips coming to make a coule of travel strops with that should be able to roll up rather small, I am going to utilising ( plagiarise ) Legions & MikeR early designs found on here
Will let you know how it goesLast edited by Substance; 07-18-2014 at 10:35 PM.

Gentlemen,
For years, I have looked for a 3" travel strop and failed to find one. Since I use only about a 7" length of the strop, a shorter than standard size 3" strop would be ideal for travel. Good luck finding the thing, though. I'm not for paddle strops, so they are out.
My current strop is a 2" Tony Miller travel strop that is quite flexible, meant to be rolled and stored inside a metal can. It does the job, but is too narrow for comfort. I still would love to find that short 3" barber style travel strop with tether. Not that this helps in this conversation, but perhaps strop makers will realize the need for such travel strops.
