Thanked: 1587I hang mine on the doorknob too, but the door is open and held back by one of those C clips:
I use it as a guide to how taut I pull the strop, and also how heavy handed I am with the razor on the strop. If the door unclips I've failed.

My strop hooks are just north of my elbow and south of my chest. That's to say my strops angle upward. I know most like them angling downward, but up works for me.
I use eye hooks to ensure the strop will never "wiggle" off its anchor.David

Thanked: 1587It wasn't deliberate I'm afraid. I hung (hanged?) it there out of necessity and then looked for justification as to why it was a good idea
