Better results on narrow strop
I stroped my razor on Tony millers practice strop and got better results than on the same Tony millers wide strop. Why?

Is your wide strop flat?
Did you use an X stroke on both strops (some folks only use it on narrow strops)?
These are what first came to my mind. When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

No x stoke on 3inch. It is flat no cupping

Do I need to use the linen strop every time I strop my razor? I think that it is making do a touch up more often then needed. I touchup hone on 12k once every 2 weeks and I shave every other day

It's just something you are doing different unless the strop is cupping on you.

Thanked: 14Stick with the X pattern, even on the wider strop. It's good technique and not any harder once you've gotten it down.

Thanked: 459I've ditched wide strops, except for one I made out of horween sheel that I'm reluctant to cut.
Narrow strops and narrow stones never develop any appreciable cup or sway. Narrow to me is around 2 inches, but the real issue is that the razor is wider than the strop (in my case).
I can see why some folks like wide strops though, and don't believe that it's a right or wrong issue.

Thanked: 154Maybe the 2-inch strop is flexing more and giving you better contact with the edge?
