    And it is self repairing.

    And seemingly, quite effective!

Try a short piece of Roo it is the best roll up strop material
Mine is longer than most average strops apt about 2.5 feet long and still rolls to about 1.5 inches diameter max

A piece about 14" x 2 or 3" wide would work a treat & roll up pretty small

I use this - my sister found it for me in an antiques shop some years ago and it works very well:

Chasmo, Tolorf makes great strops. I have one and love it. When I design my travel strop, he will be one of a number of top strop makers I will consider.

That's a retractable strop. They usually have a coil spring inside the can that rolls the strop up when not in use. Kind of like a window blind. They were also known for popping loose and cracking your knuckles with end rings. I wish I could find one that pretty - or that my wife would let me buy the raw silver to make one.

Here’s a pic of the Dovo 12” travel stop. It has a cotton or cotton blend fine weave “Linen” and very supple 1.5 X12 in leather that rolls in to a nice 1.5 X 2 in roll, easily fitting in a shoe or pocket.

The linen and leather produce a fine edge. A Paracord lanyard loops over any door handle.

I don’t think they are all that expensive, this one was a gift from my son.
