the felt i got was 1/8 inch thick and i use it as a hanging strop. you want to make sure it is dense enough. here's is what they told me.

For razor strops, 1/8 inch thick works best but you need High Density Rock Hard which is 0.80 gm/c3. Regular hard F-1 density won't work.

High Density Rock Hard means there are 0.80 grams of felt fibers per sq. cm.
High Density means there are 0.36 grams of felt fibers per sq. cm.

So you can see High Density Rock Hard is approx. 120% denser than F-1. If you use F-1, it will end up leaving some felt fibers on the razor and you don't want that.

not sure what density the felt you are looking at is. FWIW the felt i have does still leave some fibers on the blade but they wipe off easily. not sure if the ones from SRD do the same but it doesn't seem to be a problem as far as i can tell.
