I hate to say it but I really don't think leather will remove metal. If the nick is small then a re-hone would probably take care of it. If I did send it for a re-hone then I would let the hone master know of the nick. Doesn't SRD give one re-hone with a new razor.

A straight razor is a fine instrument. if taken care of the edge will last a long time but like all fine tools it can be damaged. and remember there are 2 types of straight razor users. those who have dinged a blade and those who are going to ding a blade. sooner or later it will happen to us all. (just my opinion) good luck.
