Thanked: 1587Same as Lynn. There's not one single strop I own that doesn't have a small nick or two. That's just how I roll. I'm a bit pragmatic with this stuff. It's just a tool for me and it gets a workout.

I refuse to answer this. It's going to be bad Karma.
Like saying...
'Gee, we haven't hit any traffic yet..'
-or-
'Good thing it hasn't rained yet..'
As soon as you say it... BAM!
Since I have two new Scrupleworks strops on the way, I am reluctant to put any negativity out there. It will only ruin my day.
Carry on.

the nick on my strop is probably just bigger than a grain of sand or the size of a flake. I can't even take a good picture of it to show you. that said and reading this thread, I'm glad I got that out of the way. there will probably be more to come, but if Lynn still nicks his strops, I think I'm doing alright.

I was going at it this morning, like I'd worked in a barber shop, suddenly noticed...SRD Bridle, made it almost exactly one month. Officially knocked the wind out of my sails. Fortunately, more a nick than a slice, a nice reminder to take it slow. Another notch in the belt, onward the adventure continues.

I have one with a small nick and one without. The next time I strop a razor, I will probably have two strops with nicks. Just saying.

Thanked: 458I usually put about one tiny nick just in the edge of a strop about once a year or once every two years. There's usually a reason for it, like a distraction or a razor that I should've tightened the scales on before stropping it .

If I get a new strop, I just put a nick in it right away...seems to take the pressure off and future damage is reduced....

I've done it twice. Very small nicks. I was pretty paranoid when I first statred stropping and I kept it pretty slow.
