    Default Strop for stainless steel?

I am new here and new to straight razors. I say that to say sorry if this has been asked before or if I put it in the wrong place. I like the idea of a stainless steel blade but read somewhere that you can not strop a ss blade. If this is the case do you have to hone it more often? I guess even more important is this even true? Thanks and hope to learn a lot from everyone on here.

Yes you can strop it, but remember the stainless version of razors doesn't mean it won't rust, still need to care for it like you do for your carbon razors

I had never heard of this belief that stainless blades cannot be stropped. Could anyone please tell me the logic (flawed as it is) behind this claim?

As above, I strop my stainless steel razors just like my carbon steel ones. Yes, stainless steel will oxidize/rust but at a very much slower rate than carbon steel razors. That makes them a little more forgiving of poor maintenance but you will eventually get staining and discolouration. I have yet to see a badly pitted stainless steel razor but no doubt they may be out there somewhere.

I thought you didn't have to hone stainless? It just stayed shave ready for all of eternity.

Part of the maintenance regimen for straight razors is stropping and the type of steel used in one is irrelevant.
Stainless steel strops just like any other steel, I just stropped one this morning.
