CKTG $20 Strop
Leather Strop - Hanging Barber Strop 3" x 18"
Don't get it...
I took a gamble and it didn't pay off, I should have known it was to good to be true. So I'm passing this along to others so they don't waste there money as well.
Mine arrived in box appropriately packaged with no visible signs of shipping damage. The inner / product packaging was simply a plastic unsealed bag with a button snap. So I took a gander at the face of the strop and man If i where a betting man I would say someone had tried it out, in a bad way. The face had a deep mar about 4 inches long on the top portion longways about a 1/16" deep and down about the 1/3 point on the strop a horizontal scuff which I would even venture looks to be a slight cut from a bad blade rotation. Despite these issues the overall face was still fairly inconsistent or heavily textured grain for what I would consider not smooth enough to strop on as a medium. I have to believe that it would introduce more misalignment than fix, so I'm not putting my razors on it and returning it.
Live and Learn as they say.
I'm posting several photos of the issues as well as a zoomed in spot of the harsh grain for your eyes.

Thanked: 3795I know that warning people about bad equipment is helpful for our members, but doesn't this also fall into the category of prohibited vendor bashing?

That is not the intent I like CKTG. I'm not bashing the company just this one product and had to mention there name b/c it's proprietary. If this is an issue then please would a mod remove the thread.

TBH, since razorcut is a newer member, this may be taken as good advise, but bashing a vendor, good or bad, is not how we roll.
With all the info here on strops considered, showing a new 20 dollar fail is something everyone can see.
Hopefully (again with available info), the majority here would not approach this avenue?
If they did, I should think confessing to it would serve no purpose.
JMHO, YMMV"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Although it is not vendor bashing, per se, this thread is somewhat superfluous.
A bit like a warning to not buy a cheap parachute .
$20 buys you a piece of leather you can strop on . It does not make it a strop.
Issues with a product should always be taken up with the seller. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I'm sorry all of you feel that way and I'm sorry I wasted my time, I though I might have been being helpful passing down what little experience I had to another down the road.
