Stroping after shave bad?
I feel like I've heard different info on stroping after a shave. I've heard you shouldn't strope until 24 hours after a shave. That ur edge is moving, any truth to this?
I do it before a shave but wanted to touch up a couple hours later and wasn't sure if that would hurt anything.

I strop 10 on cloth and 25 on leather, just to make sure the edge is clean and drying. Than I strop a lot more before a shave.

Stroping after the shave dries the edge & help keep it from rusting,,, then coat in mineral oil with a Q-Tip,,,, before next shave,,, wipe mineral oil off , strop again & shave.

Most barbers use and strop the same razor all day every day.

Thanked: 580Like Hirlau said, stropping after a shave removes any gunk or water remaining on the edge of the blade after a shave. Definitely worth doing to preserve edge after a shave.

Gentlemen,
I strop 10 strokes on linen and 10 on leather to insure the razor is dry; the I add Camellia oil on the blade and place the razor in the rack.

Good question Lumberjack55, who are the guy’s that take can the high magnification pics, it might be interesting to SEE. Maybe do some visual testing before, during and after shaving and stropping? True the shave test is important, but it could make for an interesting objective thread.
