It looks like Yamamotto was bilingual as well as left handed.

That is really neat strop and sock. Where did you come across it? I bet there is some interesting history there.

I managed to get an Ebay seller off the bay and bought a bunch of NOS razors from him.
I asked offhand about strops. He said he had two used ones and a few razors which belonged to the same barber. The other strop is marked similarly and had a fairly rotten cotton strop sock which was hand-embroidered with his initials. It is an old Certifyd Russian, another sweet one.
These things are limber and slick as glass. I expect tons of hand-rubbing involved.

I simply adore them, Richard! I cannot understand why everyone does not have a Razorfeld strop-sock on every strop they own!
In fact, let me know as you get back to the machine. I will likely have another order for you!

The question of storing strops long term, has been asked before and no one seemed to have a firm answer. I have the acquisition disorder re my Kanayama strops. My everyday is the #70000, and it hangs in a room not the bathroom. All it gets is a palm rub. Now as you can understand I had a real need to have a spare #70000, which is in its original long box, shrouded in plastic. Well, I also had the need to have an #80000 as well, just to get things in balance. After having done that I found that I had in my collection a new suede piece, which was on its own, so of course to make it complete I bought another, a #50000, so it is now a 3 piece strop, like it's brothers, the #70 & #80. Things are now in balance for the time being. So the question remains, how do I store the collection, the parts of which that aren't in immediate use. Do I keep them in the original packaging? Any ideas?

I also have some NOS strops. TBH, I hang mine, covered with Razorfeld's strop-socks.
I personally like to think the breathe-ability of the fabric is better for them than plastic.
    Much more attractive as well!

I did have all mine hanging, but found that as much as I enjoyed seeing them, some family members wondered why I needed to have so many...lol. I note your and others usage of the strop socks, and it does look a good idea, so I'll look into it. I did wonder about them sweating in the plastic, but, I just this minute got out the #70000 which has been boxed for about 7 months, and it is fine. I mentioned I don't put any oils etc on my Kanayama's so the only thing I wonder about is, that just in open air, will they deteriorate, as in dry out? I can leave the #80000 in its own case, I just need to remove the plastic. I just have to fight off the urge to sample the new offering, the #4560 with a handle.........

Good thoughts. I still take the NOS ones out and hand-rub them on occasion.
Keeping the dust off is key, I think. Someone here might have some practical experience on this?
