    Default Hangigf strop height preference?

Does anyone have a preference/ reason for the height at which they hang their strop?

A slight angle either up or down seems to be the common thought, comfortable to your own ergodynamics

Not sure if has ever been proved, but the thought is that the angle helps to keep you from applying too much pressure while stropping

My hook is mounted in the wall a couple of inches above the bottom of my sternum. I like that there is a positive slope to the strop surface; I doubt I would like it any flatter than it is. However, I imagine it is a function of familiarity. If I recall, the barbers in my youth had their strops mounted on the barber chair and thus stropped with a negative slope.

I am too lazy to find a stud and didn't want to spend the money on a stud finder. So, I screwed my hook into my desk. I strop sitting and standing, which ever feels more natural, usually sitting. My strop is usually horizontal or the handle is higher than the mount by 6"-10".

I screwed mine into the cabinet just below the countertop which works fine for me.

As a youngster I was fascinated watching barbers strop their razors while I sat waiting for my haircut. The strop hung at the back of the arm of the barber chair, a bit below the waist. That is where I hang mine, and feel most comfortable stropping. YMMV.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks guys! I tried a positive slope for a while and it felt weird to me so I tried a negative slope today and I think I like that a little better.
