I found that there is some fabric makers in the UK that supply up to 2.5" natural Flax linen Webbing with a herring bone weave, and a full cotton webbing in a flat (square) weave,
I found them last year or 2 when I was looking to make my own travel strop, but cant remember the names of them now.
    Saved,
    to shave another day.

Westholme does as well. I think 3" linen is hard to source. Tony Miller stopped selling it with his strops.

    Good to see some options.

Just wish there was a US supplier. I'd like to have a nice linen strop but I am on a budget too.

After weighing the options, I ended up getting a new heavy cotton strop from Tony Miller. He made it exactly to length (20") and sealed the ends. I made the holes for the Chicago screws myself with an awl.

Tony got the new strop to me in about 2 or 3 business days -- great service as I'm sure is no surprise to anyone who has bought his products.

I really like the new fabric. Seems a little quieter than the original fabric I had.

I think this is what Neil used.

Looks like a good buy! Might have to get some, and rig up a separate 2.5 inch strop.

received my linen fire hose piece today. must say that i am very pleased, i wish i had known about this sooner. the piece i received is nice and clean with no printing. it measures around 3 mm thick. very soft and supple. i will probably take a warm iron to it to smooth it out and add some leather handles etc.

I bought a piece of this flax linen fire hose and absolutely love it.
My father was an engineer. He used to tell me that sharpening a straight razor is like trying to build a ladder to the moon out of a roll of aluminum foil.
