Default Source for 3" fabric (preferably linen)

I made the mistake of machine washing my 3 x 20" fabric strop on my Walkin' Horse strop. It shrank about 2" so doesn't line up anymore with the 20" leather. I've been making do by just holding both strops together on the material rather than using the metal loops, but am getting tired of doing so and want to find a piece of 3" x 20" fabric for a replacement. Would prefer linen if available.

Have been doing some web searches but nothing really jumping out at me.

Apparently the guy who ran the Walkin' Horse business went out of business.

Anyone know of a good source for linen in 3" width?

I just buy an old strop with a good linen then scrub them clean, they work better scrubbed with a brush a time or a few. Some look for and buy NOS linen fire hose.

If the linen you have is an aesthetic thing I can not help you.

There isn't too much call for typical strop grade linen. You could have a company custom make it for you but you would need to order hundreds of feet and linen isn't easy to source which is suitable.

If you can find vintage that's the way to go. I know a few strop makers use linen. You might contact them.

Gee, I miss Trey. He and Leighton made a heck of an impressive pair.

Yup Scruplworks, IMHO. The best linen you will get and a professional job on the piece. Tc

Doesn't SRD carry replacement linen for strops?

They carry a cotton one and the felt and seatbelt type nylon, but to my knowledge no linen per say. Tc

I probably will end up using something other than linen out of practicality.

The leather and fabric of SRD's strops are 19" long so thinking the replacement panels will be the same. Maybe Lynn can sell me a 20" piece.
