    Default Kanayama Strop Canvas/Cardboard

I am happy to report that I am the proud new owner of a Kanayama 50000. SAD was one thing which never bit me and I have been more than pleased with my SRD IV, but the fact that these are handmade in Japan by a master craftsman and sold by one of the best vendors I have dealt with was enough to push me over the edge. I swear that I order stuff from JimR and it arrives from Japan quicker than stuff from the next state over.

On to the strop. I love the feel of the leather, but I am slightly concerned about the canvas side. It is very rough/thick/hard! My previous strops all had a fabric component that was relatively soft with some give. The Kanayama canvas feels almost like stropping on balsa wood.

I plan on using the Kanayama as my daily strop (well, alternating with the SRD), so for those of you that use a Kanayama, please tell me that I have nothing to worry about! Tell me that this hard canvas like material is amazing and helps refine the edge on your razors.
