    Default Strop socks

After recently noticing what looks like water spray stains on my Scruppleworks strop somehow,
now they hang full time in my bathroom in the opposite side of the room about 3 meters (10') or so away from the shower or any water sources on a hook above my head height to keep them out of reach of the mini's when they come visit.

but since where I live, it is a fairly humid climate anywhere in the house, let alone the bathroom.

So hit up one of the ladies at work who (who makes my razor socks for me) & all the alterations for a major menswear shop in town, if she could whip up a couple of sock type slip covers for my strops.
she said not a problem (I love her, she really is a great Lady & one of the only 2 others who has been at my work longer than I have "18 years")

my only stipulations were full cover, a small hole in the top for the clips to come through and an open bottom, keep it simple & use what ever scrap material she had was fine.

I brought my strops in yesterday, then when she got in this morning she had them finished
used some heavier cotton material & added a spilt with full Velcro for the bottom 10-12" about, she said it was to make it easier to get them in & out. Bonus I though.
this is the results. very happy with them

now I just need to haggle the price with her, since I asked the damage for making them and her reply was "it was nothing & it gave me something to do" which just isn't quite good enough.

at least I am booked in to set up her new DVD player when she gets it next week, which will cover zip as she knows I will do it for her anyway regardless as I have set up all her TV's & equipment for her in the past.

it is a great relationship, she does alterations & makes bits for me & I'm her online shopper & electronics & general Tech support when she needs it.

but some flowers & chocolates will be coming in with me tomorrow for her for sure.
    thanks for looking

good idea. she did a nice job, nice to have a friend like that. an improvement i could see would be to leave the top closed so that it doesn't come all the way off. sort of split up the middle and let it hang from the swivel. always there and ready to put back on. JMHO

Tried using long socks for similar idea but found backside of dual leather strops & under hardware got mouldy.
Anyway good luck with those. Great design.

I have had strops come in clear plastic sleeves or bubble wrap sleeves. I just reinforce the top with material tape and cut a notch for the hanger to go through.
