Thanked: 13249Never heard of it
But when you start paying $69 for a strop I would be looking for a strop from an HIGhLY reputable source and not Amazon which is about worse then E-bay anymore
Wait and see if anyone that has experience has used oneLast edited by gssixgun; 01-31-2017 at 12:58 AM.

Thanked: 433A few of the reviews mention the strop coming with wrinkles which are a very bad thing. I'm sure you can find better for the same money or less

Thanked: 19While we're at it, any recommendation for a quality strop in this price range?

In the $69+ range, you can get a great strop from SRD or do a search for Premire Strop Company. I have a strop from both of these producers and they are both quality products. I also just got one from The Shaving Shop with a razor from the B/S/T here and it is a fine one as well

I have a SRD latigo and it's great very solid and superbly made and I think it's about the same price maybe a touch cheaper.
As Glen said amazon is no better than eBay unless you know the product and seller are good.

Thanked: 292I purchased a Parker red latigo as my first strop. Parker is made in India, but they are working with a vendor in the USA to improve quality, packaging, etc. Quality seems to have improved dramatically in recent years.
In addition to the strop, I have purchased a couple of Parker three-piece DE razors and a couple of brushes. The quality of the razors was excellent, perhaps even better than the EJ and Merkur razors I have. I also love the two badger brushes I have, especially, the extra-dense best badger.
The quality of the strop I received was very good. The leather was nice and the workmanship was excellent. The price was reasonable. The strop was shipped in a sealed plastic bag and rolled loosely in a large box. Some early reviews had complained about the strop being folded causing severe wrinkles, so I believe their changed their packaging methods in response to the complaints. Parker seems to be responsive to customer feedback.
The strop comes with a course, polypropylene web as the cloth strop. I am not as fond of that part as I am the leather, but many vendors are using poly webbing these days.
This past Christmas, I received a Tony Miller 3" heirloom artisan strop in fast bridle leather with cotton canvas as the backing strop. It is a superb strop, but has much less draw than the latigo. I have both strops hanging in my shave den and use both of them depending upon what I am trying to achieve with the razor. If the razor is shaving great and only needs a light touch up, I use the Miller. If it needs more attention, I use the Parker which has more draw. Sometimes, I start with the latigo and finish with the fast bridle in the same session. Just like razors, hones, and soaps, it is good to have more than one.

Thanked: 3215SRD, has strops starting at $50, and beginner strops as low as $45.
More importantly, the leather on the $50 strop can be replaced, with leather sold by SRD.
As said buy from a reputable dealer, and expect a learning curve with stropping. It is one of the most beneficial skills you can learn, to maintain your razor, and where new shavers, have the most problems.
All Bridal Leather will have less draw than Latigo.

I agree completely (except with the comment about the young maiden's leather, but that is what spellcheckers sometimes do to you...).
A beginner not only tends to be rough on strops, but the ability to buy a strop replacement from SRD (while keeping the rest of the strop) will give you the option to experiment with different leathers and find the leather that suits you most.
My own preference is SRD English bridle leather, but this is strictly a personal preference and does not mean that other leather may not work equally well.
