    You must be sanding lots of stuff to test their abrasive properties! Because the potential of that material just doesn't leap at you.
    That being said, I think you should contact the manufacturer. They may be making a somewhat different product that would work even better, and without sanding. And maybe you can convince someone in their R&D department that diversifying their operations would work. This might work great for my kitchen knives too!
