Thanked: 8Gabrielcr78 Kangaroo strop
Hi ,
first my wishes to everyone on this forum for a great 2018, health and happiness above all.
I have been reading these forums since I decided to start using a straight razor back in August of this year after using a Dovo Best Quality from a family member then was hooked and purchased 2 razors from Gabe. Of course they came shave ready and very smooth. Unfortunately I thought my english bridle bench strop I had purchased would suffice, but now that I received a 3" Kangaroo strop from Gabe, all I can say is that I should have spent more time researching the requirements of a good strop.
here are some pics
I received it about 2 weeks ago, but not having a digital camera and my old blackberry having a poor camera, I waited to post so I could have borrowed and used better camera.
At first I was very surprised at the workmanship and quality of this strop. Gabe has been able to craft a wonderful product.
Second the thinness of the kangaroo leather also surprised me. It looks a little weak at first sight , but then when handling it feels strong and maybe this is just me but almost elastic type. It comes with a red stripped cotton webbing. After using it with my 2 razors I can feel the same smoothness as when I first received my Friodur and le Grelot. I am still taking the stropping motion very slowly as I am afraid to damage it, but as Gabe mentioned, take it easy and slow at first to build the muscle memory.
Being a newbie I asked a lot of questions to Gabe and I can say he was very patient, knowledgeable and helpful in my final decision to purchase it and so happy I did!
thanks Gabe

Thanked: 2I'm actually very curious about this kangaroo hide. I have one strop that I absolutely love, only because it is as you say, extremely smooth and almost elastic. The two Pegasus strops I own are thick and stiff, no matter how many times you rub the damn things I feel it takes forever to break in.

Congrats! I'm very impressed by the looks of the strops that Gabe puts out. Also, every review from those lucky enough to have one is always spectacular. I mean, just look at that thing! Sweet!
