Anyone know a source for 3” linen material?

Hello,

Looking for sources or if anyone knows where to get linen strop component. I’ve currently been stropping on rough suede and then leather with satisfactory results I’d just like to add a linen component. I’ve got the SRD modular paddle and have the magnetic backing capable of being glued to this linen component. Any sources are welcome.

I spent weeks looking and the best i could do in 3 inch was to buy from a strop maker over seas. 2.5 inch is hard to find too as i had to buy it from a strop maker who had some pieces he hadnt cut yet.

If it is English linen you are looking for then it might be very difficult to find. Years ago I think it was Neil Miller who said he was having trouble locating a supplier for that and that would sell less than commercial volumes of it. By that I mean how many hundreds of feet rolls do you want never mind a couple or 3 feet of it. Good luck

Check out Amazon. They sell Linen from France heavy rough material in 24x36 inch size as a bakers couche. I have some and it nice heavy stuff.

That's just what I was going to recommend. I have a couple of nice ones that I use for my baguettes and I think they are just as nice as the 3" that came with my Scruppleworks and Neil Miller strops. You can get a lot of material for relatively little money.

I think that Westholme makes 3” linen strops, but I don’t do social media and can’t confirm. Possibly Tony Miller. Also check on Etsy. I bought some there but only 2-3/4”.

If you’re creative or know a tailor, baker’s proofing cloths are linen and might work.

If you look for Large Professional Bakers Dough Couche for baking Baguettes on Amazon, you'll find one that's 35x26" for $10. Most won't run more than $15.

Funnily enough, I was just talking with a custom strop company called Milltown Strops in Toronto Area, he does canvas, or cotton twill etc.

I did buy from Tony. He hae some to spare but it was 2.5 inch.
