I have the webbed fabric on my SRD black latigo and I really like it! It easily performs as well, if not better, than my other strop which is linen.
I want to get a Premium I with linen to go with the latigo though, coz I've pasted my other strop and I like the idea of mixing the different leathers together!
But yes, that webbed fabric is the bomb and it does a really great job! Give it a try and see what you think!

Thanked: 530Hey, David:
I'm not fully sure about your question, so I'll answer for both interpretations:
Q: If you could only have one Bridle strop, would it be the Paddle or the Hanger?
A. If I could only have one Bridle, it would be the hanging one, just because I prefer the feeling of stropping on the hanging Bridle, it feels more velvety (IMO, I'm not sure if that's just my pad, or them all, but I prefer the feel of MY hanger versus MY pad)
Q2: If you could only have one Strop, would you pick the full Modular Paddle, or the Bridle Strop?
A2: If I could only have One strop (of any material) it would be the Modular paddle with all it's standard pads, and a bridle pad added. There's just so much versatility and potential... and, like I said, the Bridle, IMO, on the paddle feels worse, but works JUST as well, and you get premium I, scrub leather, two felts, and a spray.
Bottom Line. To me, my favorite bridle is the hanging, but my favorite strop is the Paddle.
Anything I missed?
Cheers,
Jeremy

Since you have SAD, I am wondering if you have Rup's Paladin Strop, and if so, where you place it among the many SRD strops you have. I was pretty happy with my SRD red latigo, but the Paladin just feels so much better to work. The latigo (which I've had 3+ months longer) feels almost cardboardlike by comparison, it's so stiff, even after a good rubbing.
I am intrigued by the positive comments re the SRD bridle, but wonder what someone who likes the Paladin thinks about the bridle. . .Last edited by Basset; 04-06-2010 at 03:03 AM. Reason: typo

Love my Bridle. Complements my antique shell horse nicely. The nylon works very well also. I pasted one side with chrome ox, the other plain. The nylon needs a little time to break in but after a few weeks it limbers up a little.

With Latigo, I'd recommend a VERY light sanding if it feels overly stiff/glazed, followed by lather and a glass bottle rubbing.. I do not have the paladin, but IIRC, it's horsehide.... I like horsehide, but I just can't find anything that beats the Premium IV or the Premium I.

Thanked: 12Bridle leather on Modular paddle
I have one and it has less draw than the Premium pad and I was wondering if it is horsehide??? I use it for finishing now over my TM but I still prefer to use the TM linen side first right after shaving. I put the diamond spray on one of the felts, not sure what to do with the other one that came with the paddle
