CrOx and diamond the same way on felt. Light spray, full coverage, let dry, and another light spray. No soaking necessary. It should dust up just a bit with the blade and you know you have good coverage.

The SRP modular strop was my first strop and it is great. It does double duty for me right now as a my daily strop with the rough and smooth leather. When I need to do tough ups, I replace the surfaces with .5 and .25 diamond spray on felt pads. I am also going to try traveling with it soon. You can't go wrong with versatility.
The rough leather can be used before the smooth leather in lieu of a linen or poly webbing. It can also be used with a thin coating of either chromium oxide or diamond paste. I would not recommend the sprays with it.
Have fun,
Lynn
I use it before the smooth leather. It doesn't have any pastes or sprays on it.
Shorebird:
The only time you use a straight razor edge first is either on a hone or your face. Any other time it's considered "stropping" and you go spine first.
For what it's worth, I only use a paddle strop...but have my eyes on a loom. No interest in the hangers personally. My thoughts are that my stones are flat, so my leather should be as well...ya, I'm nuts I know.
cro.ox works well on rougher leather . the spray works just great on felt and only a thew strokes are needed.
When you use the .5micron diamond spray, how many passes do you need to freshen up a edge?
