My favorite is my Kanayama #60,000, it's stropping heaven for me
ShoreBird,
If you don't mind buying from the UK, Mr Neil Miller makes horse-hide panels for his magnetic paddle strop:
Horse Hide Stropping Panel for Magnetic Modular Strop
I don't know whether these panels are compatible with the SRD paddle, but you could ask Mr Miller.
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ
thanks Russ they may be smaller than the SRP panels. But I will look into it.
I'm really liking the kangaroo leather on the paddle strop I made. Really nice draw. I still haven't made a hanging strop out of it, as I'm a bit concerned it might be too thin, but on a paddle... A+
Kangaroo hanging strops work fine, trust me. The leather is thin, but very strong, so it works very well (I've heard this from reviews... I'll be more informative once my 'Roo strop arrives :D )
New favorite strop material: 'Roo :D this thing is FANTASTIC! It's a 2.5'', so it's a bit out of my taste, but function wise, it's absolutely wonderful.
If I could get a 3'' roo'hide, with a linen or poly-web backing, I'd be overjoyed. I'm really loving the feedback of the roo.
But I'm still waiting for SRD's Horsehide. I love horsehide.
Buffalo (SRD), and Cordovan ... and don't forget the Linen!
Right now my routine, in order, is Linen - Buffalo - Horse Shell/Cordovan - Sandpaper. Just kidding about the sandpaper ... but you all knew that.
