Human baby hide is my favorite...best for that BBS shave.
Other than that I prefer the back hides off of young ladies.

I'm going to have to say 'Roo...Has a firm draw and feels like it is doing something. My only other strop is an older bovine leather and it feels like I'm stropping on thin air. No feel to it whatsoever.
Mick
Kanayama cordovan strop.
I used to like the draw of the Latigo but now I prefer less draw. When using a storp with less draw you don't have the problem of razors closing when you strop. The more draw you have the more I find that less tightly pinned razors tend to close.
Peening the pivot is not always the answer. Sometimes the pivot pin does not get any tighter, sometimes if you peen it to agressively you'll find that the blade moves off center. With exotic scales materials such as ivory I don't have the guts to peen the pivot pin agressively as you might crack one or both scales.
I think it is in the leather worker also..I have an Illinois that is latigo that is okay. and I have a a thicker peice from a leather worker and it is too stiff...but I have a pieace or red thin latigo hthat make that razor sing.....But to say all that, I finish with 40 strokes on a rolled up newspaper......
Is this Ehsan or Zahra? Sorry ... the ad is not up anymore, and I'm not sure I'm connecting real name and user id/screen name. If it is the DD Pearlduck strop, yes ... it's great! Or if this is the ebay vintage 44-20 brand I purchased (two strops, actually) then I have used that shell cordovan, too, and it's very smooth. I have finally decided on a purchasing a new cordovan from Neil Miller who is working on it as we speak.
Thanks!
Ok, Roo me....
Kanayama cordovan strop 30k. Doing job perfectly!
Well, Ehsan ... the Pearlduck is a beaut, and I will definitely be keeping it, even after the 3" cordovan arrives. I really like it, and it's perfectly broken in. For funding of future acquisitions, I will probably be selling the others and keeping the Buffalo, New Cordovan, Vintage Cordovan and Linen for a standard rotation.
Thanks again!
