I shagged a SRD Premium IV when it was on special a month or so ago... the 3" work surface made a world of difference.

I can keep a keen edge on my 2" and 2.5" strops, but my blades just flows like butter on a skillet on the 3". Was well worth the cash IMHO.

    Pardon?

I have a Hand American Old Dog 830 that I love. They're well made & have a nice draw.

The SRD strops get endless praise too.

I second this! I just bought a Premium IV about a week ago. When I took it out of the box, it felt like it had been broken in for six months already. It was so smooth and to me, has the perfect draw.

As far as the X pattern, I tend to do a slight X pattern naturally, even with the 3".
