I've got an 80K on order. It is a very expensive strop and I've had to part with a few razors to generate the funds for it. It is very expensive, but this particular strop is of 3 components - as well as the cordovan and the linen, an intermediate horsehide strop is provided.
If you consider the extra over cost of a third component, in addition to the fabulous leather case (dust cover) that comes with it, it seems a little more justified.
I'm very excited for its arrival!
As a side note, I think that the dust case is an awesome idea. Not just for travel (although I'm not sure I'd travel with this strop!) but I always have a suspicion in the back of my mind that dust is a very very mild abrasive and no matter how much I palm rub the strop routinely; it becomes embedded in the hide.
I don't know why all strops don't have these, or at least I don't know why they aren't a readily available option.

Zib broke down, gave in, and bought the 90000. It was like, OMG, this strop is awesome. It's so nice, you don't want to use it, just kind of look at it in awe.....Kanayama that is....
They really are top of line, The 70, 80 and 90 are very expensive, but you'll know where the extra money went when you buy one.... Well worth it IMHO. It's like anything else guys, Like buying a Filarmonica, or Wonderedge...Does a Genco shave just as well, sure, Does a Dovo, sure...You can buy one of SRD's Premium strops and be very very happy..I know I am... The No 1 is excellent, and I also like the English Bridle..Lately, my go to strop has been one Tony Miller recently made for me out of Horsehide, it's an excellent strop. The Kanayama is like the Rolls Royce of strops.
I take it out once in a while....Last edited by zib; 09-12-2010 at 11:19 PM.

I think everyone has pretty much summed it up.
Except for one... admit it... you stroperbated when you got it just like I did when I got my 10000.

Thanked: 286i also have the 80k on its way also with a free razor from jimR. I don't think there that expensive when you consider your getting an extra strop as the 80 k comes in a trio plus cover. i sold my 50k it was as new. I missed the leather side so much i orderd the 80k. i also use tm horshide and now and then litigo . The linen i love on my tm. i would say there is no differance in performance ,except my tm linen performs better than the stiff linen on kanayama that the only section i did'nt like so much , as for the kanayama leather it so supple and nice to strop on any one would love it.

I got a 60000 not long ago from Jim. It's a beautiful strop, and has a lovely feel to it while using it. The leather is very supple, and it has the perfect amount of draw IMO. So yes, this Kanayama stropper is happy.
