I am very pleased with mine, #30000. Although, it did take me a while to get use to the fabric component..

Love mine
I've been very happy with my 80K...although I must say, I think I will use it as a work of art than an "everyday use" strop...it is too beautiful and I am afraid that one missed step and one nick later, the strop will be ruined.
It does hold up water as it promises...I reckon that it will need a little breaking in, especially the linen part (it is a bit too "hard"). But, I do love mine
The only reason I went for the 80K rather than the 90K is because it comes with an leather casing to store it in...I don't think this is the case for the 90K.
I still rely on my Premium IV as my everyday strop.

They are simply beautiful strops, and I'd recommend one to anybody who appreciates strops. It's too expensive and nice to risk cutting, so for that reason alone I wouldn't recommend it as a first strop, or as an only strop.
I would agree with others here. It's not that it's any more effective than any other strop, it isn't (well, for me it isn't, anyway). It's just that the smell and glass-smooth feel is simply very nice, and unique. And, I like traditional barber-style strops with no handles or rings, so it has that going for it too.
The smell, especially when new, is like walking into a high-end shoe store. Not a saddle shop, or a shop that sells leather jackets and handbags. A high-end shoe store, yep.

I am very happy with my 80k. I wish I could have afforded to buy more, but I sold out of all I had.

I have the 90000, and wish'd I'd gotten the 80k for the dust cover. As the other's mentioned, The 80000 model does have a dust case. Many of these high end strops do not get used often as mentioned, so the case is beneficial. I used the plastic cover that came with mine. I cut a small hole in the top so the hardware could fit through..
Now, it hangs and has a dust cover over it...If I understand correctly, the only difference in the 80 and 90 is 6cm of length..no difference in strop thickness....
I agree, this is not a starter strop, not a good choice for a first strop. You want to have your technique down and feel comfortable stropping before you get one of these....Last edited by zib; 09-15-2010 at 02:23 PM.

Thanked: 4942I have 4 of these strops and they are very nice from a vintage perspective. I have stropped hundreds of razors on them and they are still a little slick, but coming along. Decent results. I like the canvas. I really like the set up on the 80000.
Have fun,
Lynn

Well, truth be told, value is in the eye of the beholder. it's like saying the $50M is too much for a Van Gogh or Picasso, but for a Van Gogh lover and collector, it's priceless .
All these strops come with a linen strop too...The 80 and 90K are tri-strops with an intermediate, rougher, almost velvety horsehide strop between the linen and cordovan.
