    Default Cracked strop

I got an old (50+ yrs old) strop. It's pretty dry and brittle. It got rolled up before it was shipped. The leather cracked.
Is it salvageable? Methods to make it useable?

Pretty sure I know the answer, just thought I'd ask first.
Probably trying to get my money back on this one.

Pics would be helpful. Strops can be conditioned with Neetsfoot oil, or Strop Conditioner. Something like that, I'd go with the Neetsfoot oil..Depending on the severity of the cracks and their location, it may or may not be useable....

When you wrote that it was rolled up when it was shipped, that makes me think it was an eBay purchase. If so, I'd suggest that you simply request a refund or reduction in your payment. You did not get what you paid for if they damaged it during packaging, and rolling any strop, especially an old one, will ruin it.

Depends on the severity. Light surface checking could be sanded out with 400 grit paper then condition it and massage the leather to work the conditioner through the leather. If the cracks are deep, game over.
