I have the Premium I from SRD, and in my experience it has produced excellent edges. The strop itself has a buttery soft feel when the blade is on it, and the perfect amount of draw (for me). I love it.

You don't need to do an X pattern on a 3 inch strop. You can just go straight up and down. You only need to go X if you are using a 2 1/2 or 2 inch strop. Stay with 3 inches until you have mastered the stropping technique. I found the SRD no 3 and SRD no 1 (with a slight preference for no 3) the easiest quality strops to start with.
