Thanked: 4942I have 4 Kanayama's going up to the 80000 and they are all nice. They all started off a little slick, but the results were nice off the leather and I have had no problems off the linen.
Enjoy the strop!!!

I've been using a model 3 for a couple years now and find the cloth component to work as well as any linen or canvas. If you have issues maybe you are pressing a tad hard on it.

I am crazy about my Kanayama 80 tri-strop. From cloth to rough leather to the finish leather strop these are amazing performers with the leather components reserved for my full hollow razors. Initially I was reluctant with the cloth for my full hollows so I kind of broke it in with heavier razors and it quickly became comfortable to use. Neil Miller's natural linen is still my favorite material for my full hollows.

I have been using my Kanayama exclusively for the previous week. The leather component is incredible. So smooth and silky. I absolutely love the feel of stropping on it. I feel like just stropping for fun when I look at it.
I still cannot get comfortable stropping on the canvas side. I am doing it, but it just feels like I'm destroying my edge. I also feel like my shaves are not as comfortable, but that could be 100% in my head. I think I am just scared of the stiffness/roughness of this linen component.

Thanked: 4Just received my Kanayama strop from Maksim, and it is a thing of beauty. Knowing that a Japanese master made this only adds to the magnificence of this strop. This will remain for me for decades to come!

I washed my linen strop and allowed it to dry for a day. Then I rolled it and massaged it. Now It works beautifully for me. I rub my on on it before each use same as I do on the leather
I have a vintage strop that I believe was also made by the master. The label is Pelikan. It looks exactly the same as my
New 80000 and 90000 strops labeled Llana. It's at least 40 years old and the draw is marvelous

I own the Kamayama #8000 with the suede & leather of which I cannot speak highly enough, but for a long while found the linen component to hard for my liking, so I stayed with my Tony Miller linen which I still very much prefer, but since I have started to soften the surface and make more pliable the Kanayama linen using a stropping action with a King flattening stone it certainly seems to be getting near to what I expect.

A bit off topic but this a beautiful Kanayama 90k personally autographed by the master himself.
