    Default New Strop

This morning I picked up a SRD hard felt strop with some .25 micron diamond spray. I had been doing some reading on this strop and all were very positive. Looking forward to experience the results. Right now my pasted strop is CrO on linen. While I get good results there seems to be room for improvement.

Start off by spraying very lightly up and down the strop 2 times. Let it dry overnight and you should be good to go. Don't over saturate the felt. Once dry try 5-10 strokes with minimal pressure and then strop on leather and check your results.

    Have fun,

    Lynn

Yup, The HWF is awesome. I use mine with .50 from SRD. It's one of my favorite finishers, it really gives you that velvet squegee feel.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts (after you experiment) about the differences between "CrOxide on linen" and the new diamond-pasted felt strop.

I'm currently using CrOxide, but I have no religious beliefs about "which paste is best".

    Thanks --

Well, that was some super fast shipping. Did as Lynn said and gave it 2 applications and it's now drying till tomorrow. I'll give it a go and see.

It's a well made piece, that's for sure.

I had a chance to give the new strop a go today. The razor I used was one that I just couldn't get that great shave out of no matter how many times I honed it. So I went through the whole progression again and the only thing that was changed was the diamond sprayed strop, did 10 passes on it.

Now, I've never been able to get a razor to pass the HHT so I figured what the heck I'll give it a try. I used my daughters hair which is on the fine side. Well I'll be darned, it passed it along the entire edge, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

I gave it my regular stropping then a shave. Oh boy, this was one sharp, and more importantly smooth, razor. I got one of the best shaves, if not the best, from a razor I've honed. Can you say BBS .

Honestly, this strop is one of the best investments in shaving equipment I've made. Worth every penny.

Forgot; I think the CrO pasted strop can now be retired.

    Wid,

Thanks for starting this thread on your new acquisition. I was passively looking for a felt strop and your thread sealed the deal. I pulled the trigger this am.
