I placed my order last night and can't wait for it to get here. The back of my filly strop is pasted with CrOx so I'll just stick with the felt pad and diamond spray for now.

Is anyone using the other felt pad without anything on it as a kind of linen component before leather stropping? I was thinking of maybe doing that but didn't really read anything about it.

I have the hard felt secondary on 2 of my hanging strops. One is kept plain, without adding any paste or spray, and the other is coated with 0.5 diamond spray.
I use the plain hard felt daily to help 'dry' the blade after its use with 5+- laps, and before putting it to the leather strop, and the sprayed hard felt weekly for about 15 to 20+- laps.
Other than the feel of the draw, I have not noticed much difference in performance between a plain hard felt and a plain quality linen strop, but the performance of the 0.5 diamond sprayed hard felt is much better (IMHO) than the CrOx 0.5 paste on a quality linen. The difference may be how they are applied??? Not sure.

The UPS driver just dropped mine off... I am impressed
With the two hard felt pads, one is getting its .5 diamond spray treatment started shortly, and I'll keep the other plain.
The rough leather I'll also keep plain for now, but would probably paste it later.
I think I just found my new travel strop :

I'm still on the fence with what to buy next. I've been sending my blades to Max to get sharpened. I just had my 1 year anniversary using my straight - now I'm compelled to start refreshing the blades myself. I've read the forums and wikis ad nauseum. Do I get a coticule, DMT D8EE, Shapton 16k, Naniwa 12k, etc. GEEEEEEZZZZ. I'm wondering if I can just get this strop and using the diamond .5 then the CrOx .5 then the regular strop and be happy. I don't shave everyday, and have a very light beard. I have a premium II from SRD and never use the linen strop anymore. I used to use it before the leather but never really found any difference between using it and not using it. It only makes sense that at some point I'm going to have to PUSH the blade on a sharpening surface.
