    Question cupped strop

I searched high and low, but couldn't find anything about fixing a cupped strop.

My Hoffritz strop has cupped on the end of the handle. I've tried lathering it and putting it under weight overnight, but when I take it out the cupping is just as happy. Tried burnishing with a bottle, and while the whole strop took a lovely sheen, the cupping remained. Even tried lathering it and forcing it the opposite way. The cupping mocks me.

Now, I'm sure it's not the first cupped strop, and I'm also just as sure that someone has figured how to fix it.

    Will someone help me?

Have you tried burnishing it from the back?? A bit of neatsfood applied to the back as well, and then burnished with a bottle?

I'm out on a limb here too....I've a strop that's a bit twisted and cupped, and for the life of me, I can't get it either. I'll be tuning back into this thread for sure!

I've gotten decent results by bending the strop radically in the opposite direction of the "cup" and then letting it sit flat on a table overnight with barbell plates sitting on top of it. After this treatment, I think I intimidated it, and it was scared to mess with me.

Pretty much when a strop has some defect whether its a crease or cup or any deformation the method is always the same. Usually a combination of pressure and conditioner and stretching and rolling. If that doesn't work you know about the nuclear option right?

    I know I shouldn't ask... yet, I can't help myself.

    What is the nuclear option?

Maybe it happens during a recitation of one of the Epic Tonsorial Misadventures. The molecules inside the leather sigh from relaxation during the recitation, and the edges of the strop simply drop back in line with the center. Kind of the way that my limbs relax when a beer hits my lips.
