Thanked: 220If someone knows anything about this strop, please date it. It looks like it's had plenty of use over the years!

Would "timber tanned" refer to the use of oak or similar bark in tanning?

I own a LOT of strops of various value, StrpAD a lot!! But quite frankly I can't place this strop from the photo, sorry that I can't help, but it looks very servicable and well broken in. Have fun with it!!

Thanked: 8So here it is after a little work.I wish I had a before picture of the canvas side,it was black with a hard waxy grease.I cleaned it with soap and water and a soft brass brush. The chewed end I soaked in water then put it on an anvil and tapped it with a hammer to swell and close the tooth marks.

Thanked: 443Nice renovation! That's a neat trick for closing the toothmarks; I'll probably use it myself some day. Enjoy your save.
