Default How should Diamond spray look?

I have had a bottle of .5 micron diamond spray from spd and decided to finally use it. It went to put it on my rough leather part of my modular strop, I did a few even sprays. The thing is I can't tel how much I actually put on because I can't see the difference like with the crox. I stopped before I knew I put to much on. Should I be seeing any kind of change in the way the leather looks?

I use the SRD diamond spray on a hard felt pad on my modular strop so I can't speak directly to how it should look on leather. That disclaimer out of the way...I don't really see anything other than a light dampness on the surface of the pad until the spray dries. Once dry, the only evidence is a light residue of dust (diamond dust?) the first couple of times I use the pad.

I don't know much about diamonds on leather, but have a lot of experience using them on a flattening plate for tools.

If you had enough 0.5 micron diamond on a leather hone to actually be able to see the diamonds (and the spray itself wasn't tinted), I'd say you were wasting them.

The proof of whether or not you've done what you need to with the spray will be in the color the leather turns once you put a razor to it, assuming the strop isn't already very dark or black.

Less is more. The evidence it's there is the result after stropping.

It's the same with the wool felt. Good Call using it on the rough leather, that should be an good medium. You won't be able to see it. Normally, I do two coats over two days. I do one pass, about 6 - 8 inches from the material, Maybe 3 sparys? Let it dry overnight, and repeat the next day. The proof is in the stropping...

Zib, that is how I did it, but it was more like 4-5 sprays each time. I'll find out in the morning I guess
