Very nice - I had to replace the leather from my first strop b/c the nicks were too deep but I'll keep your method in mind for the next time!

Wow! You guys, obviously, are much more experienced than I am (in stropping or drinking). 'Cause I can't figure out how to hold by JD, strop and SR all at the same time!

Personally, I use the: 10 laps:1 sip method.

I had good luck with Tandy's Veg tanned leather. If you can, find the surplus/ discontinued, and scratch and dent store of theirs.
At the same time, buy some edge finishing compound. works a treat for keeping the edges of a strop nice and clean.
I bought 4foot lengths of 4" wide for 5$ each.
    Cheers!
