I have a Flex Gold pasted Butz strop that I 1st used on knives before getting involved with straight razors. The Butz strop works well on knives but I have not tried it on razors. The strop now has a lot of metal stain from stropping kitchen knives and may not be suitable for razors in its present condition.
I have made several 3 x 12 inch paddle strops from 6 x 12 inch Hand America leather purchased at Woodcraft. I also purchased a 3 x 24 x 3/4 inch hardwood board and glued the leather to two 3 x 12 inch pieces using 3M 77 spray adhesive. One can make several good quality strops at modest cost by this means and try a variety of pastes.

got my paddle strop from srd & haven't looked back.when i started using a straight i hacked the hanging strop to death & thought there must be a better, well easier way for a newb & the paddle works a treat.you won't be disappointed.must admit i do like the livi though.
the thing i like most is that i can carve & hack to death one of the sides & with a flick of the wrist it's replaced.Last edited by morty1; 02-05-2012 at 05:48 PM.

I carry my paddle strop as a sword on my belt when traveling. It's a lot of fun at airports, especially at Newark and JFK at the international terminals.

You can also use the paddle for other adult things if that's your bent! Lol or at least that's what Mistress says!!!
