Thanked: 0My first paddle strop
Hello guys
This is my first post here so obviously will ben a question. What do you think about this paddle strop:
12" XL Double Sided Paddle Strop
I already have a hanging strop but i want a paddle also.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to SRP. I can't advise you on the paddle strop, but hopefully someone with more experience will comment about it.

I don't specifically have that strop, but I do have one very similar (size wise) made by TI and find it to be excellent. I'm an instant fan of the 3" width that it has, makes stropping in the morning quite quick and is rather forgiving for small errors.

For everyday stropping, I prefer the hanging strop. I do have several paddles. I use a few of them for pastes, like chromium oxide and diamond paste. I also like to use them after honing, again, this is just personal preference.

Thanked: 0I want to use this strop with sharpening pastes. Can you recommend me something? On that site they have diamond paste 1 micron and chromium oxide. Do you think it's a good combination?
Thanks for the warm welcome !

Thanked: 4942In my opinion, the most consistent pastes are the .5 diamond and the chromium oxide which have similar results. 1 micron will work on stubborn refreshes occasionally followed by the .5. Smaller micron pastes can be somewhat inconsistent. The key to all of them is to limit the amount of strokes in my experience. I used to use 10 strokes across the board, but these days normally 5 strokes to start with and check results.
Have fun.
