New Dillon strop
I have only been straight shaving for about 6 months or so and bought a cheaper entry level strop to get started. After building my proficiency and getting to the point I would not nick my strop, I decided to look into a new strop. I came across a very dedicated guy just getting into the strop business. After talking with him for awhile he really took care of me and even added a couple touches that really personalized the strop for me.
I really was in no hurry and actually developed quite a correspondence with Mr. Dillon as the project progressed. Mr. Dillon spent a lot of time finding the best leather available for making strops and mine is the nicest Latigo. These strops are custom made and can be tailored to your individual taste. I have no affiliation with Dillon's Hammer & Anvil Custom Strops other than being a customer and developing a friendship along the way. I very seldom write posts about the products I buy but I thought I would make an exception in this case. If you are in the market for a strop and want the most amazing customer service that seems to be a thing of the past then give Dillon's a shot.

I was interested in the work Mark Dillon is doing. I ordered a latigo strop and I am happy with his work. Mark's strops are done by hand from the hide stock he chooses and his finishes are a result of his own formulas. The leather is nicely worked, very soft and supple, and the edges have a light radius to help protect the blades. I tried to show the edge in one of my photos. There is a 20" (x 2.5" wide) stropping area and a variety of options are available for hanging the strop. Mark also offers an "ER" strop. This strop is a bit thinner than the 3/16" of his latigo strops and is, again, a 20" area with 10" devoted to his mix
of white pastes and another 10" devoted to CrOx. You are welcome to visit Mark's website and email him with any questions you may have about his many options. Mark is a user friendly, former serviceman and law enforcement officer who was seriously disabled in the line of duty. His work is strictly custom and prospective customers should understand the time involved in fabricating a latigo strop with all hand work. I have no affiliation at all with Mr. Dillon and I ordered and paid for my strops like any customer would.
As with any shaving related product YMMV.

Thanked: 1587I am glad to hear neither of you have any affiliation with Mr Dillon's strops (besides owning one). From the bits I can see of them, they look nice.
