Thanked: 12My new Tony Miller has arrived!
My Tony Miller 3" steerhide strop with D rings made it last week, and WOW it is awesome! First class quality and craftmanship. Tony obviously cares a great deal about doing it the right way. Sturdy construction and the leather is really smooth. I would say the draw is light. This strop is really a pleasure to use. I chose the cotton backing, but I haven't used anything but leather before. So far I cant really notice a difference using the cotton, but I was wondering if anyone else likes the cotton and how they use it. Anyway, this strop is highly recommended.

Thanked: 46You can spray some diamond paste for touchups when needed....I have read great reviews about his strops...you can do laps on the clean cotton side before leather

I've got the 2 1/2" with linen backing. I haven't put anything on mine as I use for before the leather and 15-20 after I shave to make sure the edge is clean.
You're right though, top notch quality IMO. Light draw compared to my 3" SRD Latigo.
Enjoy man!

Thanked: 1195Congrats and enjoy your TM strop. With proper care that strop should give a lifetime of service
I can't comment on the cotton strop component though. When I bought mine Tony was still offering genuine linen (I don't think he has in some time, but I could be wrong). I imagine they work similarily though; try stropping on the cotton 20-40 laps before hitting the leather for another 50-60 laps and you should be good to go.

Tony makes a great strop. I too have only used his linen and like it very much. Tony used to have some info on his website describing the characteristics of both. Not sure if it is still on the site.
I wouldn't spray or past anything on it if it is your daily driver. A dedicated strop, hanging or flatbed , is best for spray or paste IMHO.

Tony Miller is my favorite strop maker of current production strops, they are fantastic!

Zeus,
Good show on the strop. I agree with my other friend about not spraying the strop. Keep your daily strop pristine. Give it a hand rubbing daily — before showering — and that should be plenty of conditioning.
